About this tool

Convert PDF to PDF/A-1b as an image copy made simple.

This tool rasterizes each page onto an opaque white background and creates a new PDF/A-1b document with an sRGB output intent. Searchable text, forms, links, signatures, metadata and accessibility structure are not carried over. Limits: 50 MB, 100 pages and 40 megapixels at the selected resolution. Sample outputs passed veraPDF during development, but this browser tool does not validate each output. Keep your original and verify the downloaded file with a PDF/A validator before relying on archival compliance.

Common questions

About Convert PDF to PDF/A-1b as an image copy.

Can I convert a PDF to PDF/A-1b in my browser?

Yes. This tool rebuilds each page as an image and creates a new PDF/A-1b-style archival copy locally. It does not retain searchable text or interactive content.

Does this page validate every PDF/A file it creates?

No. Sample outputs passed veraPDF during development, but the browser only checks that the downloaded copy opens and has the expected page count. Validate the individual file with a PDF/A validator before relying on archival compliance.

Will the PDF/A copy keep forms, signatures and selectable text?

No. This image-only method removes searchable text, forms, links, signatures, metadata and accessibility structure. Keep the original.
